Surfing Facebook or Myspace for hours on end is not just for personal satisfaction any longer. About 90% of businesses are devoting time to public networking on the internet, according to a new study.
Manta, an on the internet community devoted to businesses, interviewed 600 small-business entrepreneurs national and discovered that 78% say that using social-networking systems is just as essential as public networking in person — if not more so.
“Small companies understand they need to go where their viewers is,” Manta Primary Professional Pamela Springer said Wed. “Participating, public networking and being obtained on the internet is very essential today in growing their company.”
Social public networking on websites such as Facebook or myspace and Four Rectangle help businesses receive immediate recommendations when clients check in or tag the companies, according to the study, and 42% of companies revealed that a one fourth of their new clients came through social-media websites.
As good as that may sound, not all companies say their social-media initiatives pay off.
The study discovered that 58% of businesses battle to find value in using Facebook or Myspace to market their companies or don’t have a page at all. And 25% of those interviewed said their company website pushes the most company for them.
